How Long Do Dried Flowers Last?

A question that I’m asked allllll the time is ‘how long will my dried flowers last for’… so to find out more details, and my tips & tricks to prolong their lifespan, keep on reading.

Dried dahlias keep their natural colour for months and months

Usually when I’m asked this question, I will typically respond with 1-3+ years, as it can completely depend on the type of flower, aftercare and their environment. The main things that can shorten their lifespan are light, moisture and too much movement.

All of my dried flowers are used in their glorious natural colours, which means they haven’t been synthetically treated, dyed or bleached. There are multiple benefits of this, mainly the impact on the environment is lessened and they can be composted once you no longer need them.

I typically suggest that you swap and change any stems that start to wilt and fade for others, as some dried flowers (such as anything tropical) can be a lot more robust than others.

To prolong your dried flowers lifespan, I’ve recently written a dried flower aftercare guide here, which gives you some further tips on how best to look after them and keep them looking fresh for months to come.
