Touring Florist - Chapter Five
April was filled to the brim as my road trip around the South Island of New Zealand began.
Luckily I’ve had my younger sister join me out here, so the long drives have been made much more enjoyable with some company in tow. As she’s not flowery in the same obsessive and compulsive ways I am, there’s been slightly less flowers the last few weeks and more focus on getting out into nature - hiking, boating and adventuring.
This Touring Florist series is just about winding down now as I approach my journey back to the UK. I’m starting to weigh up the options for my return and have decided not to return directly to Manchester. Instead, I will be touring a few spots across the UK (Scotland, Bristol, Yorkshire & others) to create wedding magic, work for others, and enjoy the freedom of a lighter schedule this summer.
But a little more on that when I’m home… here’s this months highlights.
Scenes
Oh New Zealand, my oh my.
The landscapes I’ve seen over the last few weeks have been breathtaking. Mountains, coastlines, beaches, rivers and lakes. Extreme, remote, and all the more beautiful for it.
Some of my favourite spots included Mount Cook, Lake Matherson, Lake Hawea, Nugget Point, Dunedin & countless others.

Playing with the flowers

Did I really expect to spend the last month without playing with even one flower? A very unrealistic expectation given the incredible flowers that I’ve discovered this autumn in the South Island.
I’ve made some soft & wispy end of the season creations over the last few weeks. This one was a particular joy to create, many thanks to Keryn’s garden.

A few of the joyful floral stopovers on the road included the wonderful Forest Finders (photographed), Fisherman’s Bay gardens, Katherine English and Canterbury Hydrangeas.

Just one more entry coming for this Touring Florist series, which is a slightly bittersweet feeling. I can’t believe the time is almost up. Thanks for sticking with me for these months of adventures, I hope you’ve enjoyed coming along on them too.
