Overbeck’s Garden, Salcombe, Devon

Taking in a huge breath of fresh air as we explore Devon for the first time this summer and take a moment to pause.

A windy, single track coastal route up to the lovely spot that is Overbeck’s Garden in Salcombe, where the planting style felt almost tropical. Huge banana palms, olive groves, palm trees, and succulents basking in the hot sunshine. The gardens cost £9.50 to enter (July, 2024) and there was a small cafe hatch to be found at the top, which was handy after a long drive. After our visit to Fisherman’s Bay Garden in New Zealand last year, it can safely be reaffirmed that we love to visit any garden with a breathtaking sea view.

Whilst a little smaller than some of the other gardens we’ve previously written about on here, there was also a woodland track just behind, with a loop out to Sharp Tor peninsula viewpoint, so we made the most of the carpark with an afternoon of admiring the beautiful crystal blue waters and it is well worth the visit.

Some pictures from the day can be found below…

Definitely add it to your ‘to visit’ list!
