It’s our second birthday

Today marks 2 years of running Bryonia full time. It hasn’t always been easy, but I wouldn’t change a second.

Here are some of the crucial things I’ve learnt so far, from running an independent, seasonal flower business 👇

1️⃣ You don’t need set qualifications to be a successful florist

Everyone is so different. We’ve all come from completely different backgrounds, experiences and lives to date, that’s what makes us all so brilliant. There’s no written path for getting into the industry, so just chase after what makes you happy. Keep sharing and putting it out there, you’ll soon find your target audience.

2️⃣ Freelancing for others is incredible

It would be impossible to have achieved this amount without the guidance and lessons from more experience people in the industry. Freelancing for others, on their weddings, projects & events, has been eye opening, scary, but every time exhilarating. I couldn’t recommend it more to develop your own understanding.

3️⃣ Photography and videography are crucial skills

With flowers being such a visual art, there’s a huge demand to be able to capture and share it digitally. Your ability to take photos and film your designs is so important, so invest in these skills, practice from the beginning, and don’t be afraid to ask others for help to improve.

4️⃣ People will have their own opinions on whatever you choose to do, create or put out there, and that’s completely out of your control.

Even though your business could be nothing to do with them and they’ve put absolutely zero into where you are today, it may be tempting to listen to what they have to say, at least initially.

Trust your gut, seek out the customers, friends and family that cheerleader your every effort, challenge and success. These people are the gold dust you need to hold onto.

Thank you all for being my gold dust ✨
